Taylor Swift leads the pack when it comes to the most charitable celebs around. Not only did the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer personally phone a cancer-stricken 8-year-old girl on Christmas[1] , she also celebrated her recent 24th birthday by writing a $100,000 check to the Nashville Symphony, which hit money troubles this year.
Swift made headlines when she joined Prince William and Bon Jovi on stage for an impromptu performance of “Livin’ On a Prayer” at the Winter White Gala in London to help homeless youth in November.
She gives generously to many charities, and ranks in the lead spot for the second year in a row on the Top 20 Celebs Gone Good list on DoSomething.org. The group describes itself as the country's largest not-for-profit advocate for young people and social change.
At number two is boy band One Direction, which kicked off 2013 with a trip to Ghana as a part of its involvement with the U.K. charity Comic Relief.

One Direction (from left, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan) were the second most charitable celebs of 2013.
Two of the guys, Harry Styles and Liam Payne, also raised more than $800,000 through the fund-raising platform Prizeo for Trekstock, a London-based nonprofit that supports cancer research. The group released a single, “Red Nose Day,” which raised over $3.2 million to help those in Africa and the U.K. living in severe poverty.
“It’s pretty amazing that the top two spots on the list are held by celebrities under age 25,” Naomi Hirabayashi, chief marketing officer of DoSomething.org[2] , tells Confidenti@l. “For the first time, 50% of the list is age 30 or younger. This rising generation is using their money and star power for good.”
In the number three spot is Beyoncé, who used her pipes for good when she headlined London’s charity concert for women’s rights, “Chime For Change,” earlier this year. On Thursday she fulfilled a young cancer patient’s Make-A-Wish request by singing “Survivor” with her at a Las Vegas stop on her tour.
Other do-gooders on the list include country star Carrie Underwood and Oklahoma Thunder forward Kevin Durant, who helped tornado recovery efforts in Oklahoma with huge donations. Durant alone gave $1 million.

The 'Highway Don't Care' singer took the time to call a terminally ill fan for Christmas.
Justin Bieber, who fell from number two to number 20 on the list, recently raised over $1 million and visited young people affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.
“The Voice” judge Blake Shelton’s hometown of Moore, Okla., was leveled by one of the tornados there last May, and the superstar responded by creating a “Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert” that raised $6 million toward rebuilding efforts.
“Breaking Bad” stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul raised $1.8 million dollars for anti-bullying charity The Kind Campaign, while Sandra Bullock, Kerry Washington, Ian Somerhalder, Mindy Kaling, Demi Lovato and Kendrick Lamar rounded out the list.

And no red M&Ms, either! John Mayer[4] and Katy Perry[5] are pretty specific about what they want in a hotel room.
KATY & JOHN: COUPLE IN NEED
John Mayer and Katy Perry have a laundry list of demands that must be met before they will check into a hotel. The singing duo, who have been making the rounds promoting their duet, “Who You Love,” first need a fine, aged bottle of Scotch for Mayer, reports the latest issue of Life & Style, along with soda and water, as well as a fruit plate.
Perry is a diva who needs nearly two dozen snacks, including a bowl of ranch dressing, six different beverages, a director’s chair, a coffee maker and a full-length mirror. “John and Katy get VIP treatment wherever they go,” an insider tells the mag. “It’s usually all the same items for TV shows, backstage at concerts and hotels.”
There were rumblings the couple were supposed to get engaged over the holidays, but there’s no word yet on a ring or the duo tying the knot.
SIMON SAYS TAKE A TRIP
Simon Cowell and his baby mama Lauren Silverman are enjoying the holidays in Barbados. The duo and baby boy-to-be Simon Eric Cowell (the planned name), took off for the tropics earlier this week. Also on the trip, but staying in separate quarters, are Silverman’s son, Adam (whose dad is her ex-husband Andrew Silverman), and her mom, Carole Saland.
WHAT'S LENA DUNHAM[6] TO DESERVE THIS?
Fox News Channel bigmouth Michelle Malkin won’t stop picking on Lena Dunham and her BFF Audrey Gelman via Twitter. While “Girls” creator Dunham and Scott Stringer’s spokeswoman Gelman tried to elegantly explain why Dunham was photographed by Gelman’s ex, Terry Richardson, last year, Malkin continued to attack them on the social media site for working with him. “@audreygelman and @lenadunham — Gee, maybe that icky photo shoot w/ @Terry_World wasn’t a good idea after all!” Malkin wrote Thursday[7] . Malkin had attacked the duo because they befriended the controversial photog, who has been accused of sexually exploiting young models.
GIFTS AT THE NORTH POLE
North West is one lucky baby. As the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, she sure made out like a bandit on her very first Christmas. Kim took to Instagram all week to post the designer prezzies sent the baby’s way. High-fashion friends including Giuseppe Zanotti, Charlotte Olympia, Michael Coste, Stella McCartney and Hermès Paris all sent expensive little packages North’s way. The 6-month-old also made a much-anticipated, but brief appearance at grandmother Kris Jenner’s annual Christmas Eve bash,we’re told.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
Matthew McConaughey manages to be a handsome hunk and doting dad all at once. The “Dallas Buyers Club” star and his youngest child, Livingston Alves, went for a stroll in the rain in Brazil, along with wife and mom Camila Alves and her family for the holidays. Meanwhile, Gisele Bundchen braved the cold on a Boston playground with daughter Vivian Lake on Christmas day.

LUCCI’S TAKING OFF
Susan Lucci[11] was spotted at the OTG outfit’s Empire Tavern at LaGuardia Airport Friday morning, enjoying a croissant and a coffee. “She was traveling with a gentleman who ordered for the two,” a spy tells us. “She was very personable and took photos with fans.” Before the trip, Lucci posted a happy holidays message to fans on Twitter[12] , saying, “So much to be grateful for! Merry Christmas & best wishes for a wonderful Happy & Healthy New Year! God bless us everyone!”

THEIR TREE IS SO LAST YEAR
On Christmas Day, Anna Wintour’s daughter, Bee Shaffer, 26, posted an Instagram pic of her presents all in a pile and not under a tree[14] . She captioned it: “My mom threw out our tree before Christmas Day because ‘It was too messy.’ ” We hear Wintour was not amused. “Anna didn’t like the post,” one friend of Bee’s tells us. “She is very private about her private life, and has reminded her daughter about it.”
