If news of the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" movie didn't already make it clear, today's news should send the screaming Howler home: J.K. Rowling isn't done with "Harry Potter."[1] [2]
The author of the massive magic franchise will next bring the boy wizard to life with a "Harry Potter" stage play, set to open in London's West End within the next two years. The Daily Mail reports[3] that Rowling is acting as co-producer alongside theater veterans Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender. She will also collaborate with an as-yet unnamed playwright on the story.
The "Harry Potter" play will focus on "the previously untold story of Harry Potter's early years as an orphan and outcast." It will also "offer a unique insight into the heart and mind of the now legendary young wizard. A seemingly ordinary boy, but one for whom destiny has plans."
Speaking with The Daily Mail, Rowling said that she's received numerous offers to bring "Harry Potter" to the stage over the years, but Friedman and Callender's pitch "was the only one that really made sense to me, and which had the sensitivity, intensity and intimacy I thought appropriate for bringing Harry's story to the stage."
"After a year in gestation, it is very exciting to see this project moving onto the next phase," she added.
