What’s New Year’s Eve for, if not to have fun with fashion trends? Ok, maybe that’s not the ONLY thing that comes to mind when you think of the evening, but it’s definitely a night that invites clothing representative of true celebration.

Festive trends tend to teeter on a little scary, if taken too far. In moderation, though, almost anything works…ALMOST. Though I don’t suggest you hit the town in a skin-tight sequin mini dress, be spontaneous and have a little more fun with your look as 2013 comes to a close.

Channel the below designers and try a little bit of sheer, embellishment, or feathers to ring in the new year. Start 2014 off with some fun—you have nothing to lose!

Burberry-11

Burberry’s[1] sheer look is beautiful, fun, and festive, but the longer hemline balances out the sheer slit and low neckline, keeping the look appropriate for whatever company you’re spending New Year’s Eve with.

Sachin-Babi-13

When wearing embellishment, you don’t want to wind up looking like you spilled a can of glitter on your dress. Sachin + Babi’s subtle embellished neckline allows a classic black top to hold it’s own (but not outshine!) this awesome printed party skirt.

DSquared-24

DSquared2’s[2] simple black mini dress has turned into a completely memorable and special piece with the feather detail on each sleeve, without going overboard and making you look like you’re going to fly away.

Last minute shopping? Try watching the ball drop in some of the pieces below!

Let us know what you plan to wear on NYE! Staying home in your PJs? Or planning to pull out all the stops and paint the town red? We want to hear!
