Transcendence will be the first film directed by longtime Christopher Nolan collaborator Wally Pfister. Pfister won an Oscar for his cinematography work on 2010's Inception, while his impressive CV also includes credits on Nolan's Batman trilogy and The Prestige. Both Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman will star in the picture.
Nolan will serve as an executive producer on Transcendence, which has a script by rookie screenwriter Jack Paglen. According to The Hollywood Reporter[1] , the film is "in the vein of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Inception". Exact plot details are being kept under wraps but Depp is believed to be playing a scientist whose brain is uploaded into a super-computer after his death.
The film's cast also includes Iron Man 3 actress Rebecca Hall, who signed on[2] last month (March), as well as Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind) and Kate Mara (House Of Cards). Warner Bros has given the film an April 2014 release date.
