American Horror Story[1] might be sticking around New Orleans.

"It's either going to shoot in New Orleans or it's going to shoot in Santa Fe," executive producer Ryan Murphy[2] tells Entertainment Weekly[3] of the fourth season, adding that it won't be a contemporary story.

Despite early talk that next season would be a spin-off of Coven, which tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America, Murphy said that project is now dead. "We were starting to break Episode 8 or 9 and we were like, 'Well, we can't kill that person off because we need them for the spin-off,'" Murphy said. "As soon as those words were said, I was like, 'There is no spin-off.' Because it took away from the joy of the show. The reason the show is successful is no one is safe ever."

Before Season 3 debuted, Murphy told reporters at a screening that he would drop more heavy-handed clues in the final episodes about the next story in the anthology series. EW reports that will begin happening around Episode 11.
