The lengthy interactive promo is for the song 'Happy'

Pharrell Williams has created the world's first 24 hour long music video.

The video is for Williams' track 'Happy', which features on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, and features Williams alongside a large cast - including cameos from Odd Future, Magic Johnson, Steve Carell and Jimmy Kimmel - dancing through the streets of Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Williams has put the success of his recent collaborative songs 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky' down to the fact that sometimes "people need a break" from reality. Speaking to GQ after being named Hitmaker of the Year by the magazine, the producer and signer says that the success of his Number One tracks with Daft Punk and Robin Thicke were down to people wanting to escape from all the bad things in the world.

"Both songs are for people who need a break," he says. "There’s a lot of fucked-up travesty in the world. Sometimes you just need a Hallmark card. Sometimes you just need to shake your ass."
