Arcade Fire announce North American arena tour dates for 2014 - NME.com

Canadian band will also play European festivals in Denmark and Germany

Arcade Fire have announced details of a huge North American arena tour to take place in 2014.

The band have only played a handful of shows in support of their recently released new album 'Reflektor' but, as Pitchfork ^[2] reports, have now confirmed an extensive run of arena gigs in the US and Canada which will take place between March and August next year.

They will also play several European festival slots as part of the tour, with scheduled shows at Northside Festival in Denmark, and the Southside and Hurricane Festivals in Germany. Previously, the band had confirmed that they would also headline next year's Primavera Sound Festival, which takes place in Barcelona, Spain.

Earlier this week (November 11), Arcade Fire played their first UK show ^[3] under the guise of The Reflektors, the pseudonym under which they've been performing gigs to promote their new album of the same name.

Addressing the fact that the audience had, at fairly short notice, been told that "formal wear or fancy dress" was mandatory for the performance, Win Butler told the crowd: "To anyone who felt uncomfortable dressing up – I'm not sorry," said Butler. "At least 70 percent of you are getting laid tonight… As long as you showered. That's the secret. Boys."
