Michael Ochs Archives/Handout Carlos Santana has reunited with a former—now homeless--bandmate forty years after they lost touch.
The rock guitarist hadn't seen percussionist Marcus "The Magnificent" Malone in decades, until San Francisco's KRON-TV reporter Stanley Roberts brought them together, according to the station's website[1] .
Malone initially contacted Roberts claiming the Santana Blues Band got started in his mom's garage in the late 1960s.
"At one time I was with the Santana band, the original Santana blues band," Malone said[2] . "Now I'm homeless and on the streets."

After confirming the story, the reporter took Santana to visit Malone in the camper he had been living in in Oakland, Calif.
"You don't know how hard I prayed to get to see you," Malone said upon seeing Santana.
"It's an honor to be in your presence," Santana said after giving him a hug. "I cherish you. You and your family were always so gracious to us."
The duo hadn't seen each other since 1969, after Malone left the band when he was imprisoned for manslaughter.
After reuniting with the drummer, Santana promised to help Malone get back on track, saying he would start by bringing him a set of congas.
