The Golden Globes may not have the ultra-prestige of the Academy Awards, but there's one thing Sunday's annual show has over the Oscars: an open bar. The star of Martin Scorsese's latest contender, "The Wolf of Wall Street[1] ," Leonardo DiCaprio[2] , knows this fact ... and relishes it.

"It's a much more calm atmosphere. Everyone has a drink at their table, we're eating, we're all socializing, we're not sitting in an auditorium," DiCaprio told MTV News of the Globes when we spoke to him on the red carpet for the National Board of Review's awards gala Tuesday night. "It's a lot more relaxed and a lot more fun."

That's not to say that attendees should partake in too many libations. DiCaprio is a veteran of the awards circuit. Actually it's been decades now: Remember when he was just little Arnie Grape, way back in 1993, before he was the King of the World? So the actor knows exactly how much to drink at the ceremony.

"You don't want to go above three," he said. "Two takes the edge off; three, you're going up onstage and doing something silly."

And he may very well find himself onstage on Sunday when the Globes go live at 8.p.m. ET on NBC. DiCaprio is nominated[3] for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) for his portrayal of real-life con man Jordan Belfort, and "The Wolf of Wall Street" is up for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy).

That's not to say Leo has anything against the Oscars, however. The actor noted that that ceremony, slated this year for March 2, after the Winter Olympics, "has all kinds of pressure with it, all kinds of prestige as well."

Stick with MTV News all week for your Golden Globes awards show coverage, from now until the big show on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
