When Missy Robertson of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” fame looked to fill a void in the fashion industry, she looked no further than Stephanie Carter’s Southern Fashion House.

Carter said that long before the fame of “Duck Dynasty” came knocking, Jase Robertson’s wife was in demand for numerous public appearances.

Robertson realized the need for a stylish yet comfortable and age appropriate clothing line. She had long been a fan of Carter’s Judith March line and turned to Carter to help bring her vision to fruition.

“I felt there was a void in the market for active, busy, working moms who want to look put together without having to put a lot of effort into it while staying modest and age-appropriate,” Robertson said.

Carter said that she had always wanted to do a line with longer hemlines but simply needed the inspiration to do so.

“When I met Missy, she inspired me to put the collection together using my design and retail background. So our collaboration began,” Carter said.

Missy Robertson by Southern Fashion House clothing line mixes vibrant colors and patterns with slightly longer hemlines, varying sleeve options and shapes resulting in fashion that is figure flattering, age appropriate and contemporary.

“At first, I thought the customers would be women like me – a busy working mom who is always on the go,” Robertson said. “However, my 19-year-old cousin loves every piece I’ve worn so far and my 84-year-old grandmother has also picked out a few pieces for herself.

“These styles are reflective of the fun new fashions that can always be found in the junior section of department stores. However, the silhouettes in the collection are intended to flatter women of all ages, shapes and sizes.”

The Missy Robertson by Southern Fashion House spring collection will debut this month at Market in Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas and will consist of about 55 pieces including dresses, sportswear, light cover-ups and mix-and-match tops.

Robertson worked at Duck Commander for many years but now devotes much of her time to her passion for vocal music. She volunteers as a music teacher at her children’s school and is heavily involved in mission work, both domestically and internationally.

Carter is a Brundidge native whose early fascination with design eventually led her to open her first fashion retail store, DéjàVu, on the beaches of the Florida Panhandle. In 2010, she launched her now iconic fashion line, Judith March that is found in more than 850 fashion boutiques throughout North America.

Carter founded the Southern Fashion House to govern all of her companies under one roof. Currently, the company maintains three clothing brands, including DejaVu, Judith March, Jacque and Janis and the newly announced line in collaboration with Robertson — Missy Robertson by Southern Fashion House.
