The Voice[2]

The Voice closed out its fifth season in star-studded fashion Tuesday, but even performances from the likes of Céline Dion and Lady Gaga – who dueted with coach Christina Aguilera for the first time – could not outshine the real star of the night: winner Tessanne Chin.

Tessanne Chin[7] and Will Champlin[8] of Team Adam Levine[9] and Jacquie Lee[10] of Team Christina made the coaches' chairs swivel during their blind auditions, then never failed to out-belt their competitors to win the hearts of their coaches, and the votes of America to earn a spot in the finals.

But only one could walk away with The Voice title.

Chin, the 28-year-old backup singer from Jamaica, proved throughout the season she had the talent to be front and center, culminating the previous night when her nuanced rendition of Whitney Houston's hit "I Have Nothing" rendered her coach nearly speechless.

"You are just capable of anything and it blows me away," Sexiest Man Alive[11] Levine said Monday[12] after her performance. "I know in my mind and heart you are the winner of this show."

America agreed, and her victory earned her a recording contract, as well as a collaboration with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, who penned a song for the winner.

Chin burst into tears after host Carson Daly[13] announced her name as the victor, and Levine dropped to his knees as he handed the trophy to Chin, whose mother and husband joined her onstage.

In addition to Chin's vocal gifts, the singer demonstrated her humility and warmth throughout the season as she grew closer to Levine and her fellow contestants.

"It's just been an amazing journey and I could not do this without the little island of Jamaica," Chin said in a segment Tuesday before she won. "But I most importantly could not do it without the amazing new family and supporters I have here in the U.S. Thank you for accepting me and thank you for bringing me this far."
