A few weeks ago – too early for it to be called a Christmas miracle – rapper Snoop Dogg and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry hung out at the White House.
The meet-up took place during a soiree thrown by the Obama administration to honor the 2013 Kennedy Center honorees. Snoop Dogg[1] had performed a tribute that evening for jazz legend Herbie Hancock.
The rapper, who recently changed his stage name to Snoop Lion[2] , posted the video on Instagram and Twitter late Thursday:

— Department of State (@StateDept) December 27, 2013[11] The audio is muffled, but the duo appears to be talking about Hancock's musical legacy. Snoop says, “He invented hip-hop, that’s why it only makes sense.”
Other than that interaction, the low volume on the cell phone video makes it difficult to determine whether Snoop and Kerry spent the rest of their time together discussing Benghazi, ongoing Syrian strife, NSA spying or simply reciting the lyrics from "Gin and Juice."
Whatever the pair talked about during their unlikely conversation, they ended the exchange with a fist bump and a laugh, which if we remember our international relations class correctly, translates to "BFFs" in the world of diplomacy.
The 36th Annual Kennedy Center Honors Ceremony was held the evening of Dec. 8 and will air Sunday night at 9 p.m. on CBS.
