The voting is complete and the results are in for the 2014 Charleston Weddings’ Magazine Spring Bridal Show Emerging Bridal Designer winner. The seventh-annual show, part of Baker Motor Company’s Charleston Fashion Week (CFW) and presented by Gathering Floral + Event Design, is thrilled to introduce the next up-and-coming bridal designer is Kendra Barnes.
The Bridal Fashion Panel charged with selecting this year’s 2014 Spring Bridal Show Emerging Bridal Designer winner included Colin Cowie, celebrity event planner, entertaining expert, and author; Romona Keveza, bridal and red carpet gown designer to the stars; Callie Tein designer-owner of Modern Trousseau; Mark Ingram, owner of Mark Ingram Atelier and Featured Style Icon for the 2014 Charleston Weddings’ Magazine Spring Bridal Show; and Anne Chertoff, wedding expert and digital consultant for groups from Martha Stewart Weddings to Huffington Post Weddings, Vera Wang, and more.
Barnes will have her own runway show featuring 10-12 looks at Charleston Weddings Magazine’s Spring Bridal Show under the tents on Saturday, March 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Charleston’s Marion Square.
A resident of Dayton, Ohio, Barnes graduated in 2012 with a Bachelors in Fine Art, Fashion Design, from Savannah College of Arts and Design. She’s worked as a design intern for designer Michael Kors; as an intern for bridal designer Beth Elis; and as a bridal stylist for Alfred Angelo. The up-and-coming designer, who aspires to have her own label and boutique, “I have been hearing great things about CFW for years, even before I thought about applying. To have the opportunity to be a part of it will be a memory of a lifetime!” Expect Barnes to showcase shimmery flowing gowns with lace accents and blush tones. “Sparkly, shiny, and flowy are typically my staples,” says Barnes.
Widely recognized as the top bridal event in the Southeast, Charleston Weddings’ Magazine Spring Bridal Show features runway shows by the city’s top luxury bridal boutiques, as well as shows by up-and-coming designers, including the winner of the magazine’s Emerging Bridal Designer Competition. Held in a reception-hall setting styled by Gathering Floral + Event Design, attendees to the always-sold-out event shop high-end bridal accessories while sampling savory and sweet treats from Charleston’s best wedding caterers, and sipping specialty cocktails from her best mixologists.
