Out Among The Stars will feature 12 previously unheard songs, and will be released in March via Sony Music's Legacy Recordings.
Two of the songs were written by Cash and recorded in 1981 and 1984 for Columbia Records. However, he was dropped by the label in 1986.
They were found in 2012 after his son John Carter Cash began cataloguing the country icon's private archive.
"We were so excited when we discovered this," he told The AP. "We were like, 'My goodness, this is a beautiful record that nobody has ever heard'."
The album will also include three duets, including two with his late wife June Carter Cash and one with Waylon Jennings.
Johnny Cash struggled commercially during the 1980s, but had a resurgence the following decade onwards through his American Recordings series. He died in 2003.
Speaking about the recordings, his son added: "He's pitch perfect. It's seldom where there's more than one vocal take. They're a live take, and they're perfect.
"Dad was always uniquely himself. He never modified himself... And later on the world would come back around."
