Thousands of fans, friends and car enthusiasts headed to the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita to pay tribute to Paul Walker at the site where the Fast and Furious actor [1] died in a car crash last week.

Fans arrived hours before the event was due to start, leaving flowers, candles, stuffed animals and other tributes.

A giant banner was hung up on the side of a truck for people to write tribute messages for the actor and his friend, financial adviser Roger Rodas, who also died in the crash.

Fan Humberto Martinez drove all night to come to the tribute.

"We felt like Paul Walker has given so much to us we wanted to give something back, so we would do anything for that guy. He was a great guy," he said.
