There's nothing like home for the holidays, and for one troubled actress, after the events of the past year, it's been a long and difficult time coming.
Amanda Bynes[1] has finished her inpatient treatment and is currently recovering at her parents' Los Angeles home, her mother's attorney confirms.
"Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery," says Tamar Arminak.
"Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation[2] and she's feeling better every day."
The 27-year-old had been forcibly hospitalized and held involuntarily at UCLA Medical Center following a bizarre driveway-burning incident in July.
She was eventually moved to a Malibu rehab facility, but had not been free until recently, meaning she spent nearly half of this year receiving treatment.
That treatment, her mom's legal representative says, is still a work in progress:
"Amanda is no longer in a facility, [but] her outpatient treatment is continuing. She's very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared."
Her stretch of unusual behavior, legal woes and mental issues predated the driveway burning. She was arrested for DUI and for tossing a bong out of her window.
Still, she's doing better and won't be hospitalized until 2015[3] , as once speculated.
As Amanda Bynes continues her recovery process, her mother Lynn will remain in indefinite control over Bynes's well-being and finances, Arminak confirmed.
She's been granted a conservatorship by the courts, given Bynes' severe mental illness[4] , and unlike in the past, Amanda doesn't seem to be fighting this.
As for the talented young star's future plans, career-wise?
"She's now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design," Arminak adds. "She's mentioned before she's interested in creating a clothing line."
