Singer Kelly Clarkson has revealed that she is pregnant with her first child.
The 31-year-old posted on Twitter to say she and husband Brandon Blackstock were expecting their first baby together after marrying last month.
"I'm pregnant!!! Brandon and I are so excited! Best early Christmas present ever," she wrote.
Clarkson's publicist, Mika El-Baz, later confirmed the information but there has been no word on when the baby is due.
Blackstock is the son of Clarkson's manager, Narvel Blackstock, and the stepson of Reba McEntire, and has two children from his first marriage.
He also manages Clarkson's friend and fellow country music star, Blake Shelton.
Earlier this year, the former American Idol contestant was stopped from buying and taking a ring which once belonged to Jane Austen out of the UK.
Clarkson bought the turquoise and gold ring for £152,450 at auction last year, outbidding the Jane Austen's House Museum.
An appeal later raised enough money for the museum to buy it.
At the time Clarkson said: "The ring is a beautiful national treasure and I am happy to know that so many Jane Austen fans will get to see it at Jane Austen's House Museum."
The singer released her sixth studio album, the Christmas-themed Wrapped in Red, last month.
She won the first American Idol in 2002 beating Justin Guarini and Nikki McKibbin.
