Consumer preference rises for fashion, home and lifestyle products and interest to shop online in Tier II cities grows rapidly



BANGALORE, INDIA: Junglee.com released its Diwali shopping trends report for 2013. The report indicates a strong year-over-year growth in customers aspiring to shop online for Diwali. Compared to last year's Diwali shopping season, Junglee.com witnessed a 15 percent growth in customers visiting the site, and a 235 percent growth in product pages viewed by customers, one of the highest levels of consumer traffic till date.


Key contributors to this growth include a sharp increase in traffic to fashion and lifestyle categories in addition to the traditionally strong demand for consumer electronics, burgeoning traffic from tier two and tier three cities, and a sizeable increase in customers accessing online shopping sites through mobile devices.


Shoppers appear to be increasingly comfortable shopping through mobile devices, as Junglee.com saw a 57 percent year-over-year growth in customers visiting the site from mobile devices. Samsung, Apple, Sony and Micromax continue to be the most popular brands in consumer electronics.


While the top six metro cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad comprised majority of the customer traffic to Junglee.com, tier two cities such as Pune, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad witnessed over 200 percent year-over-year growth.


Among Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad shoppers, fashion was the most popular category group, while Mumbai and Delhi customers were evenly split between fashion and consumer electronics.
