He shot to fame aged nine...

Aaron Carter may still be playing concerts but it has been reported that the pop star has filed for bankruptcy due to financial problems in the past which occurred when he wasn’t in control of his own finances.

Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter’s younger brother[1] shot to fame as a solo artist aged nine and now his is 25 years old.

"Aaron filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy protection to alleviate past issues in an effort to move forward with his life and career," his representative, Steve Honig told USA Today in a statement.

"The overwhelming majority of the debt he is asking to be discharged is from more than 10 years ago when he was a minor and not in control of his finances."

Aaron is playing a gig in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday night and recently told the Wichita Eagle newspaper that he doesn’t spend his money on nightclubbing anymore.

"I've been living a different lifestyle," he said last month. "I don't party. I've partied enough. I don't go out. I focus on other things that are much more important.

“I focus on being an entertainer. I love performing. That's what I'm about. I want to take that next step."
