Diamonds may be forever, denim maybe not. But the funky combination glittered all evening as the theme for Fall Trend Fashion Event 2013.

Sponsored by Sun-Times Media for the second year, the fashion show and party was held Oct. 10, again at Pinstripes in Northbrook. Some 250 attended the festivities to support charity partners for the event, Dress for Success, the North Suburban YMCA and the Vision for Tomorrow Foundation.

“We’re back by popular demand which is even more exciting that the North Shore is embracing all of this fashion,” said Tracey Tarantino, show producer with ZZAZZ Productions of Oak Brook.

Bocce lanes were transformed into a catwalk night. Tall spotlights dramatized the on industrial cool of the setting. Master stylists from the Teddie Kossof SalonSpa of Northfield coiffed just the right looks for presenters about to take the runway. A pair of professional dancers from the Arthur Murray Studios whirled along the catwalk, sure-footed as any felines.

Tarantino noted that the more than 80 looks were showcased.“The trends of the season are the chunky chain necklace and purple,” said Tarantino. Sequins and bold color dominated. “A royal flush of color,” she called it. “Not only the purple but blues and the reds. Red, they say, is the new black for fall.”

Denim and diamonds worked well together. “Last year was a very formal theme,” said Jill McDermott of Sun-Times Media. “This year we thought we’d shake it up a bit and have fun with it with a diamonds and denim theme that everyone could feel comfortable with being here.”

The after party included a chocolate fountain and dance music by the Northbrook band, The Bank.

Participating exhibitors and sponsors included Avenue Fashions of Deerfield, Neiman Marcus Northbrook, Superior Optical, Highland Park Ford Lincoln Superstore, York Furrier of Elmhurst, Superior Optical, Vibrato of Wilmette and Glenview, Robin Elliott of Morton Grove, Juniper, a new Northbrook boutique, J. McLaughlin in Winnetka and Cy Fredrics Jewelers of Glenview.
